Bittersweet Alternatives was composed, produced, and mixed by me in March 2011. The work is a massive improviastion. A few motives were written on paper as a guideline, then the other 90% of the musical material was improvised layer by layer. The chord progression, the rhythms, are all instant creations. The work was inspired by the concept of time, and how fast time can seem to move.
Neon Darkness was composed, produced, and mixed by me in December 2010. The work was made only using audio samples recorded by me in my Digital Sampling class. For example, the kick drum sound was made from the sound of tapping a colander, and the snare drum sound from the sound of hitting a bottle of pills. This work demonstrates many different musical sound design techniques such as single-cycle looping, pitch shifting, and heavy sound saturation via equalization. Additionally, the work is a mix of minimalism, IDM, and film underscores.
Silver Rotations was composed, produced, and mixed by me in May 2010. The work concentrates on a constant bed of marimbas fed through delays with full feedback. The texture of this bed changes slowly, similar to the music of Steve Reich. While these marimbas are constantly in motion, a string ensemble with horns plays a complex series of chords and textures. The work is meant to convey anguish and resolution.
Aqua Phase was composed, produced, and mixed by me in March 2010. The piece features a mixed ensemble with English Horn as the central melodic instrument. The piece is a mixture of minimalism, chamber music, and electronica.
